My brother and I picked out like six books yesterday at Target. I had a $50 gift card burning a hole in my pocket since December. If you’re wondering why I would possibly share my book money with anyone, my brother and I are pretty close and we read a lot of the same things. He picked out like four books and I picked two. We ended up spending a nice chunk of change, but it was totally worth it!
Let’s talk about the books I picked first —
I’ve wanted to read Red Sparrow ever since I saw the trailer for the movie. I refuse to watch the movie until I have read the book. I got the smaller copy of the book because the font was the same size as the bigger hardcover edition that was like five or six dollars more. I did the same thing when I bought Ready Player One and no issues.
I wasn’t aware until a few months ago that Stephenie Meyer had even written another book other than the Twilight Saga or The Host. I saw this at Target yesterday and decided to get it. Again, I got the smaller copy because of the same reasons I got the small copy of Red Sparrow and Ready Player One. I haven’t read the Twilight Saga, but I read The Host and I loved it, so I’m super excited about The Chemist.
My Brother’s Picks —
We both read Every Day by David Levithan and loved it. I was skeptical about getting Another Day because it’s just the same story but from the other main character’s point of view. Books like that are not always good, but Garrett decided he wanted to read it, so it looks like I will be reading it as well.
Neither of us has seen Midnight Sun but we both wanted to read the book, so we got it yesterday. The trailers for the movie looked good so hopefully, the book will be good. Unlike me, Garrett doesn’t care if he sees the movie first. I’m not a fan of seeing the movie first, it messes up my reading experience. So I will be reading it here soon hopefully.
One of my brother’s friends told him that The Upside of Unrequited was good so that’s why he picked that one. I have read and heard about it some and it sounds pretty good. We will see!
We both wanted to read Leah on the Offbeat so that’s why we picked that book. I haven’t read Simon vs the Homosapiens yet, but it is definitely on my list!
Well, that’s my June Book Haul. What books did you get this month?
