4/5 Stars

Even though he was once his biggest rival, Jake Jarvis is thrilled when Spencer Solomon agrees to join the Diamonds cross-country team to compete in the Barry’s Bay provincial championships. Everyone is pumped, everyone is focused, and Jake has to admit, he really likes their chances. At the last moment, Spencer informs the team that he can’t go. Jake is furious. But when Spencer explains that he’s worried about leaving his wheelchair-bound father alone, Jake gets to work on finding a solution to get Spencer and the Diamonds back on track.

My Review

This was just a really good story about two guys who weren’t really friends, but their love for running brings them together. Spencer helps Jake to understand that, to him, running is more than just winning which helps Jake to understand why he loves to run in the first place. This is definitely another one of those stories that everyone should read.

This is another book by Orca Book Publishers that I really enjoyed. It’s a fast-paced, quick read (again like 100 pages). I read the whole thing in one sitting (a couple hours). I couldn’t put it down. I was able to relate with the way Spencer felt about leaving his dad to go run the race. He didn’t want to leave him alone all weekend and I can understand that. That’s what I enjoy most about the books I’m reading from this publisher. They are all relatable in some way and I love books like that. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, quick read.

Thank you NetGalley and Orca Book Publishers for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.
