I really had to think about this week’s topic. I thought about some of my favorite books and their characters and came up with a list of five characters I would love to have as a best friend. It wasn’t easy because there are so many books with so many amazing characters, but I did it. Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Shanah @BionicBookWorm and if you’d like to join in you should go check out her page (or just go check her out just because).
America from Beautiful Disaster
(There is no picture of her)
In Beautiful Disaster, America is the main character, Abby’s, best friend. She moved with Abby to get away from Abby’s old life. She is always there for Abby and will fight for her no matter what. I love friendships like these. Those friendships where your friends care so much for you that you have to calm them down when they are defending you, those friendships where they have your back no matter what, and those friendships where you have no doubt that they are loyal. America is all of these things for Abby and I think that is awesome. I would love to have America as a friend.
Grover/Annabeth from The Percy Jackson Series
Yes, I know Grover is also Percy’s protector, but he is also his friend. He was his friend long before Percy even knew he was a Demigod. Grover is loyal to Percy no matter what, despite his ‘job’ to protect Percy. Annabeth and Percy don’t hit off right away, but there is no doubt their relationship is strong. I would love to have either or both of these characters as a friend.
Auggie from Wonder
There would be a definite age difference obviously since Auggie is only in the fifth grade, but I still think it would be a great friendship. Auggie knows what it’s like to be different, to look different. I think we would have a wonderful friendship (no pun intended). We would joke about how we both look different than most people, share our fandoms, and wear astronaut helmets all while people stared.
Patrick from The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Patrick is one of my favorite characters from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I love all the character but he is higher on the list than any of the others. I would love to be friends with him. While outgoing and loud he is also loyal in his own way and I love this about him. He would be a great friend.
Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter Series
These to have been by Harry’s side from the beginning and I think that is awesome. If one gets into trouble, they all do. I love how loyal they are to one another. Harry and Ron were friends first and didn’t particularly like Hermione to begin with, but after something happens that causes them all to get into trouble, they become close friends. I would love to have either of them or both as friends.
