As the old world burned, the elite departed to colonize space in search of a new home. Most of the human species perished on earth’s surface, but a protected few remained. Many generations passed without question, but now suspicions are starting to rise. Follow the story of Maz and her best friend Hap, as a chance encounter with a stranger lures them into a mission to decide the future of humankind.
The world has perished greatly, the Elite have left to colonize in space, leaving only a few to live in the domes set to keep them safe from the outside world. But once Maz and Hap meet Mitch, suspicions start to rise, and Maz, Hap, and Mitch must save humanity.
This was an interesting story, different from other dystopian novels I have read. It was also a quick and easy read. The story was exciting and fast-paced, I never felt like the story was ever lagging. There are several twists that after figuring them out I realized I should’ve noticed sooner, but I’m glad I didn’t.
The characters were interesting as well:
Maz is one of the main characters. She’s curious and creative, and also determined. I liked her character a lot.
Hap is another one of the main characters. He’s friends with Maz and just kind does whatever she says.
Mitch is the ‘Chosen One,’ the one that’s going to save everyone. He is the one that gets Maz and Hap involved in his plan and shows them the world outside their dome.
There is also a good bit of humor in this book, which I really enjoyed. I’m a big fan of dystopian novels and this book did not disappoint. I highly recommend it!
