Top 5 Tuesday | Surprising Reads of 2019

Hey! This week’s Top 5 Tuesday topic is ‘Surprising Reads of 2019.’ I read a lot of good books this year, so the only hard part about making this list was only picking five. I can’t wait to check out everyone else’s lists! Here’s mine:

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Shanah @BionicBookWorm. Each week we respond to that week’s topic and link back to her page. Go check out her page to join in!

**These are in no specific order**

I read this one most recently and absolutely loved it. This book was actually recommended to me by my friend Sam @sleepysamreads. She thought I would like it because it was so relatable given the MCs are both chronically ill and she was right. This book was so relatable and the story was really good as well. You can read my review for Sick Kids in Love here.

This book is the sequel to Heather Morris’s The Tattooist of Auschwitz which I also really enjoyed reading. Cilka was a character in The Tattooist of Auschwitz as well, this book is her story about what happened to her after Auschwitz. Both of these stories are based on true stories about the holocaust, so they are definitely heavy stories, but still very much so worth the read. Here are the links to both the review for Cilka’s Journey and The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

This was a really good book that I almost didn’t read, but I’m glad I did because it was SO good. It’s about a teen mom who loves to cook who is obviously facing some struggles, but also chasing her dream with the help of her grandmother. I actually got a signed copy for my birthday this year which was totally awesome. You can read my review here

This is another book I almost didn’t read that I am glad that I did. This book was really different than most of the fantasy type books that I’ve read before and that’s probably why I liked it so much. I actually found a copy of it at my favorite used bookstore the other day and I was so excited. I already have an ARC of the sequel Ruthless Gods and I can’t wait to read it! You can read my review of Wicked Saints here.

This book was really good and had some crazy plot twists. It’s about the guy and his girlfriend goes missing and everyone thinks it’s his fault. It’s an exciting read and I’m so glad that I checked it out. You can read my review here.

Here are some other good books I read this year (that were published this year):

Saving Zoë by Alyson Noel

Six Goodbyes We Never Said by Candace Ganger

Never Sit if You Can Dance by Jo Giese

Ordinary Girls by Blair Thornburgh

Dissenter on the Bench by Victoria Ortiz

Keep This to Yourself by Tom Ryan

A Soul Reclaimed by Shayna Grissom

Mike by Andrew Norriss

The Sister’s Hemingway by Annie England Noblin

Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins

Happy Reading!!
